Web Site Flipping

Smart web entrepreneurs understand that web space is like real estate. There are only so many words and phrases that are economically viable for domain names, and popular phrases, if used correctly, can be as valuable as downtown office space.

The idea behind flipping web sites is much older than the internet itself. It’s the same idea behind the age old tradition of flipping houses, which involves buying a run-down, old, or otherwise devalued house, fixing it up, and selling at a much higher price. The same can be done with websites and underused domain names.

You can even earn money just buying and selling domain names.

There are many sites where you can buy and sell websites. Two sites that are very popular are Flippa and Website Broker.

The Ultimate Guide

If you’re interested in giving website flipping a shot, follow these basic steps:

1. Acquire a website.

Look for domain names have a lot of unrealized potential. For example, say you hear a rumor that powdered wigs are about to make a huge comeback. Does anyone own powderedwigs dot com? Check it out, and if no one owns it, snatch it up. Or, if it exists but is not very well-run, inquire with the site owner about making a purchase.

Of course, if powdered wigs aren’t your thing, an important point to keep in mind is that you’ll be fixing this website up. So it will be best if the web domain is related to an area that you have expertise in. For example, if you’re a web entrepreneur, check into domain names that relate to what you do in your business. That way, there will be less research and less overhead involved.

2. Fix the site up.

There are many options for doing this, depending upon your level of skill and experience with web design. On one hand, it’s possible to acquire website templates that prevent you from having to write a single line of code. On the other hand, a little bit of skill with web design gives you the ability to make your websites creative and specialized, which will help when it comes to selling them.

Alternately, you can hire someone to fix up websites for you. But of course, many website flippers consider this an unnecessary expense.

Once you’re through with the website portion, don’t neglect the website content. Sure, whoever buys the site will be able to put whatever they want in that space. But having high-quality content that is not just filler will make the site that much more attractive for whomever you sell to.

3. Sell the site.

Register for one of the many website auctioning services, which are easy to find through a Google search. Different sites have different practices for the buying and selling of websites, so make sure you know what you’re getting into. Browse existing listings, and read all the fine print when signing up.

And that’s all you need to know. Flipping websites may seem difficult at first. But trust me, once you get the hang of it, it will all go very smoothly, and the number of websites you are able to flip will be completely determined by the amount of time and effort you put into it.

The above has been blatantly stolen from Work From Home Australia, a great site that helps teach different ways of making money online.

I am going to see if I can secure a nice cheap website and work my magic on it if lucky. Will let you all know how I go ... if I can secure one in my price range of absolutely nothing (or close to it)! ;)

Missing in Action

Ok ...  Ok ... There haven't been any new posts in a while & I slap my own wrist for this.

I blame it all on Microsoft and those Xbox 360 toys! Damn ... I get hooked every time! Have now got to concentrate. Christmas is coming up and I could always use the money. ;)

Microworkers Update

Well it has been a week now so I thought I should check and see what has happened with the Microworkers experiment.

I now have $1.00 earned from the one job I completed about the Sports Blog and have 100% completion satisfaction, but the other job has still not been processed one week on.

Will have to complete a few more jobs to reach the magic $10 mark and discover how they intend to pay out. 'Til next post ...

Australian Planet Search Engine

Jumped on to the blog today & saw an ad in the top left corner that interested me for submitting to a blog directory. So off I went & submitted, but it's not a blog directory at all, yet still I submitted.

I now have a little image in the left hand column (around half way down the page) telling everyone as much, that I am in Australian Planet.

And now that I have obtained this little button and a submission to their directory, I thought lets see what that their Page Ranking is with Google & I found they have a huge big fat 0. LOL

I had never heard of them, nor do I know of anyone who uses the site as their search engine preference. Oh well ... Couldn't have hurt to waste those two minutes on their site. 'Til next post!

Blogoola

Signed up and submitted site to Blogoola. This site specializes in promoting blogs, so thought it can't hurt to submit here.

Blogoola have a Page Ranking of N/A so that isn't exactly going to help as of now. Quick Buck$ Online has a current PR of 0 which is to be expected as it's not even 24 hours old yet. :)

Oh well ... 'Til next post ...

Just a quick update this time. Seeing as though I needed a higher Page Ranking to complete some tasks on Microworkers, I added this blog to some search engines.

Microworkers

Microworkers is a website where you are paid for completing micro jobs.  You earn money by selecting jobs you like, complete the task & submit proof.

I have just signed up which was extremely quick for a site of it's kind. Payments appear to range from $1.50 to $0.10 per task. Jobs listed at the moment are as simple as adding a Facebook application (earns $1.20) and signing up to iPal ($0.30).

There aren't a lot of available jobs listed here (for Australians) but it looks possible to make an easy $10 - $20 over an hour or two.

Lets try a job ... :)

Sports Blog: Comment

You will earn $1.00

This task takes less than 3 minutes to finish

Well it took me a little more than 3 minutes as I found it hard to find a story on the site that I had any knowledge on, and in the end I wrote some crappy comment on how the Newcastle Jets got beat on the weekend to Sydney FC in the A-League competition. Something I knew absolutely nothing about, but it was worth a dollar so lets crap on as hard as we can.

The post is still awaiting moderation so I have no idea whether I will be paid for the task or not.

Speaking of getting paid, it looks as though they may send cheques out to your home address when you have made enough money to withdraw, but I am yet to fully investigate.

Next Job ...

Digg + Comment: Win iPhone

You will earn $0.48

This task takes less than 3 minutes to finish

What is expected from workers?

1. Go to http://digg.com/news/entertainment/win_a_free_iphone_4_or_3g_just_for_entering_our_competition_it_s_free_and_all_you_have_to_do_is_reffer_friends_join_now
2. Digg the story
3. Leave a comment

Sounds easy enough & I get the chance to win an iPhone for my trouble. It's taking me a little more than 3 minutes again as I don't have a Digg account, so there is the whole Signup + email verification system to trudge along through first. But job is now complete and if all is verified, I am now $1.48 richer. Woohoo!! :)

There are a lot of jobs on Microworkers that require you to post on your own website / blog but there are requirements on what Page Ranking your site must be in order to complete job. Seeing as though I have just started this blog, I doubt I would even have a PR as of yet, so I can't review these tasks for you ... yet.

I should complete a couple more jobs, but I think I will leave it at that for now, and check back in a day or so to see if I am eligible for my $1.48! 'Til next post ...

Monetizing the Blog

Ok ... First things first - Monetize this blog!

Ads are annoying to readers, but hey ... they make money. I've just set AdSense up for this blog.

I was an existing AdSense user when I ran my video game website. Over 12 to 24 months I managed to make $111.46 which I haven't been able to withdraw as I am an Australian and I must make $150 to withdraw said money from Google. So the first port of call was to get those ads up & running once again.

Now that $111 took a long time to generate for me. My site averaged 400 - 500 unique users on a daily basis and if I was lucky, maybe 1 or 2 users ever clicked on those ads each day.

Long story short, it took forever to generate that small sum, but at least AdSense does make money. If I had doubled the traffic to my website, I could have expected to make over $200 in the same period. These are very small figures in the scheme of things, but the more traffic you bring to your own site, the more money you stand to make. Imagine if you had a site or blog that generated tens of thousands of hits per day?! Or hundreds of thousands of hits per day?!

Operating your own website or blog is the best way to generate money on the internet hands down. But I am going to look at other opportunities & share them with you all as I go.

If you do appreciate the information that is provided on this blog, please click one of the ads you see on the site. You only have to click on an ad for me to make a few cents and help get this project firing fast. 'Til the next post ....

Make money online!

Welcome all ...

My name is Rob & I have been toying with the idea of making money online for several years. I once managed a video game cheat website, but never bothered to put the time into making money that I should. It's hard work when you are working a 9 - 5 job, then to come home & start working on your own website too, so I just didn't give it the attention that the site deserved.

But now ... I find myself unemployed & in need of some cash. So I am going to take this opportunity to work through a few of the FREE options online and share my success and failures with you - the readers.

I have discovered many ways to make money online over the years and there are scams galore - you should see what crap I get through just one of my email address'!

So without further adieu, I will start this blog first thing tomorrow (or the next day  ... or the next day). ;)

Hope you enjoy whatever ride we are about to embark on! :D
